Lewis H. Ballard was born in Jackson township, this county (Boone Co. Ind.) July 6 XXXX was therefore, 63 years and 13 days of age. He was twice married, the first time in August, 1868, at Greencastle to Josephine Dean, who died 8 April 1891. On 10 December 1896 he was married to Mrs. Dora Voris, who survives him. He also leaves the following children,- Mrs. Phronissa Stamper, near North Salem, Mrs. Hattie Skaggs, of Jamestown; Mrs. Etta Patterson, of Beach Grove, Indianapolis, Mrs. Anna Baker of New Ross and Miss Vernita Migde Ballard, of Lebanon. Two sons and two daughters are deceased. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Martha Graves, of Jackson township. He leaves eleven grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Church at North Salem and the I.O.O.F. at Jamestown. The latter had charge of the funeral, which was held in the Christian Church here at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.E. Brown. Interment was held at the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
Mr. Ballard has been a resident of Boone County all his life with the exception of twenty-three years from 1875 to 1898, when he lived in Hendricks County. He was removed to Lebanon nine years ago.
