Relatives and friends attended his funeral and Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. Ernie was a graduate of West Chester State University. He was a dedicated ESOL teacher in the Philadelphia Public Schools, including the Abigail Vare Elementary School in the Southport section of South Philadelphia, and was an instructor of languages at Villanova University.
