Jerry Arnold Carney was born in rural Abilene, December 16, 1934 the son of John and Edna (Bamfield) Carney.After graduating from Chapman High School, he went on to serve four years in the Navy. He worked in metal fabrication as a welder and was a horseman. Jerry was united in marriage to Helen Anderson July 6, 1971 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They were members of Mt. Pleasant Church south of Solomon. Jerry passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Abilene. He is survived by his loving wife Helen, of the home. Daughters: Brenda Klingbeil (Gary) of Grapevine, Texas, Linda Flynn (Steve) of Abilene, Melissa Calub (Eric) of Coppell, Texas and daughter-in-law Dana Carney of Solomon. Sons: Ken Carney (Marianna) of Solomon, Keenan Brown of Salina, and Scott Carney (Marsha) of Solomon. Grandchildren: Jamie, Whitney and Alex Klingbeil, Caitlin, Connor, and Carson Carney, Kyle, Steven, Parker and Jackson Brown, C.J. Carney, Kin Gilfillan, Sali Mattison, Nathan Clifton, Madison Calub, Jeb and Madeline Flynn. Great-Grandchildren: Carter Ann Carney, Hudson Brown and Shepard Arnold Brown, Caden Acosta, Jaci and Calvin Mattison. Sister: Joan Manns of Independence, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Cris Carney, August 24, 2014. Jerry’s final resting place will be in the Prairie Mound Cemetery, Solomon.In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given in Jerry’s name to the Hospice of Dickinson County and may be dropped off or mailed to Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, PO Box 308, Solomon, Kansas 67480.
