Carl D. Herron, 81, of Fort Worth, formerly of Big Spring, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Fort Worth.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stanton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Carl was born June 16, 1933 in Muncie, Indiana to Ralph and Laura Herron.

He married Frances Geurin December 24, 1954 and she preceded him in death May 26, 2012.

Carl graduated from Muncie Central High School.

He joined the United States Air Force and served at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring.

After leaving the Air Force, he continued to work for the Department of Defense.

When Webb closed, Carl and his family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he worked for the DOD at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement. After retiring in 1988, he and Frankie returned to Big Spring, where he began working for Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. They lived in Big Spring until moving to the Fort Worth area in 2010. He was a Mason, a member of the American Legion Post 437 in Selma, Indiana, and a long-time member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church in Big Spring where he served as treasurer, a Sunday School teacher, and a Deacon.

Survivors include daughter, Cindy and her partner, Thayer; son, Marty and wife, Suzanne, all of Fort Worth; son, Kevin, of Round Rock; granddaughters, Ashleigh of Fort Worth, and Kaylee of Galveston; grandson, Brandon and wife, Michelle, of Melissa; brothers, Earl and wife, Donna of Selma, Indiana, and Donnie and wife, Diana, of Muncie, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Lung Association, 1349 Empire Central Drive, Suite 280, Dallas, Texas 75247 or to the Selma American Legion Post 437, 315 S. Albany Street, Selma, Indiana 47383.
