Floyd Mumaw, 91, Wooster

WOOSTER -- Floyd E. Mumaw, 91, of Wooster, peacefully slipped into heaven on Friday November 7, 2014 at Glendora Health Care Center in Wooster..


He was born on Aug. 11, 1923, in Wooster to Adam H. and Clara (Zook) Mumaw and has been a lifelong resident of the area..


He was a graduate of the Wooster High School class of 1942 and married V. Ruth Rohrer on Aug. 18, 1946, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Wadsworth. She survives..


He had farmed for many years before becoming an auctioneer, which became his passion. He was noted as having more than 5,439 auctions throughout this area over the years..


He and his wife were also one of the founding members of the Wooster Mennonite Church, and he took part in many activities associated with the church throughout the years..


In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Glenn Mumaw (his significant other, Carla Powers) and Gene (Kimberly) Mumaw, all of Wooster, and Julia (Wes) Lambert, West Salem; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Lehman-Mumaw, Elkhart, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter (Helen) Mumaw of Sarasota, Fla..


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean Mumaw; a son, Gerald Lee Mumaw; and a brother, Harvey Mumaw..


Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wooster Mennonite Church with Pastor Jacob Dodson officiating, followed by interment at Martins Mennonite Church Cemetery, Orrville..


Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday (this evening) at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster, and one hour prior to services (10-11 a.m.) Monday at the church..
