On March 27, 1944, he began proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Jack was literally a “Jack” of all trades. He operated an insurance office, served as Christian County Sheriff, was a successful realtor, and worked in construction. He loved to travel, hunt, and fish. For those who knew Jack, it was obvious he was not a procrastinator. He wanted things done immediately and done correctly. He never sat around and was always on the go. His outgoing personality was a admirable trait and he loved visiting with everyone.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, eleven siblings, and a grandson, Dallas Wayne Lightfoot.
He is survived by son Johnny Monger and wife Kathy; daughter Jackie Lightfoot, daughter Judy Lile and husband Mike, all of Clever, Missouri. Jack is additionally survived by two stepchildren, John Smith of Nixa and Lucia Cann of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a number of individuals that were very close to his heart.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, March 25, 2015 in the funeral home.
