Robert Paslay (aka Pasley) was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, along with his brother John. Robert served as Captain of the Cheraws Hill Company under General Francis Marion. He was made a Captain by Colonel Morris Murphy on July 5, 1781.

Robert married first to a Sarah, who is said to have been either a Cox or an Anderson, circa 1779 in Cheraws District, South Carolina. They were the parents of five children. She died by 1789 when Robert married second to Elizabeth Crocker. They were the parents of twelve children.

Robert and Elizabeth are buried together on the Old Paslay Family Plantation, in front of the home built about 1795 that still stands and is being lived in today (March 2015).
