Mr. Rapakko died Friday of causes related to age in a Portland hospital. He was 85.
Born in the Hockinson area of Clark County on March 13, 1904, Mr. Rapakko had lived in Vancouver for many years, then in Puyallup until returning to Vancouver about three years ago. He was a retired powder man for what was the Clark County Road Department, now part of the county Public Services Department.
Surviving are his wife, Emma J. of Vancouver; son, Mervin W. of Kindsbach, West Germany; daughters, Mary Jane Barrett of Tempe, Ariz., and Lucille Archer of Stevenson; sister, Sylvia Clifton of Vancouver; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Oregonian, June 21, 1989
