This is just a fun story told of Hannah (Dodge) Batchelder (1740-1797):
When confronted with the prospect of the British "regulars" coming to Beverly while their husbands and sons were away during the Lexington Alarm, the women of Beverly got together to decide what they would do. Hannah Dodge Batchelder said: "Do! Who cares for the regulars [the British]? Let them come and if they do not behave themselves, we'll take our brooms and drive them out of town!"
