Lucy Holt married Francis Sullivan 4 August 1831 in St. Clair County, IL. From 1850 and 1860 Sullivan household census entries, Gasconade County, the couple’s children were probably Louisa, Maria/Mariah, Rhody, Francis, Ellen, Edward J., Edward, and perhaps Mary. Lucy Sullivan died sometime after 1850.

Attesting to the pluck and pioneering spirit of Lucy Sullivan nee Holt, the following is reported:
It is believed that John Holt migrated to Gasconade county in the summer of 1838. Family tradition is that the adult men first went to the Owensville area to arrange for land and to build homes. Families followed later. Family tradition also has it that John’s daughter, Lucy (Holt) Sullivan, walked the distance from St. Clair County, Illinois (just east of St. Louis) to Gasconade County, Missouri leading a milk cow while the children drove a wagon containing the family household effects. Two weeks after their arrival, Lucy gave birth to twins (Gasconade County History, Owensville, Missouri, Volume One, 1979, p 164).

Ancestry family trees list death in 1853, Owensville, MO. Regrettably, no Lucy or Francis Sullivan burial was listed in Gasconade County Cemetery Survey, 1985. Mrs. Sullivan's memorial was placed in this cemetery because her parents were buried here; actual interment location remains unknown.
