Fred was the youngest son of WF and Jenny Greene. He left the farm to work elsewhere, unlike his brothers who stayed on the farm their entire lives. In 1918, he was a stenographer at the Crowell Livestock and Auction Company in Omaha, NE. According to the Washington County (Nebr.) Genealogical Society, he married Lillian Opal Loval (b. 1898) on 30 Mar 1926 in Washington County, NE. In the 1930 US Census, he was living alone but claimed to be married. He was still working as a secretary at a grain elevator at that time. On his World War Two draft registration card, he listed Edith M. Greene as a person who would know where he was and her address was the same as his. His obit states hewas married to Edith M. Coffey (b. 1890). In 1948 and 1951, he was working as the Illinois Representative of the Zone Company, a division of Southwestern Petroleum Company, living in Springfield, IL with Edith.
