Roger J. Thornton, 65, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at William S. Middleton Veterans Memorial Hospital in Madison, WI. Roger was born April 3, 1949, in Belvidere, IL, son of Russell and Joyce (Roland) Thornton. Roger graduated from Belvidere High School, Class of 1967. Roger served in the United States Navy. He married Kris Johnson on October 3, 1992, in Rockford, IL. Roger was a scout master when he lived in Florida. He enjoyed computer games, electronics and toys.
Roger is loved and will be missed by his wife, Kris; children, Rachelle (Tyrone) Martin, Kyle (Christine) Thornton; siblings, Robert (Nancy) Thornton, Ronald (Bonnie) Thornton; sister-in-law, Karen Garrett; grandchildren, Jonathan, Briana, Ariel, Jared, Sarai-Jean; numerous nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Nancy A. Thornton.
Funeral Service were held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Dan Schenck officiating.
Burial will take place in Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, Boone County, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
