Daughter of James Ware and Hannah Thomas.
Lockard Peel did some work for Mary's dad James Ware.
Mary and Lockard were married in Madison County, Ohio on March 4, 1848.

James Ware received 100 acres of land from one Benjamin Grey who was a revolutionary solider. This land was in the Ohio Military district and was probably bought from Grey. Grey had most likely gotten a land warrant from his military service. James' land patent was dated 25 Feb 1804.

I have not yet found a will for James but I have not given up trying. James Ware seems to have died in Ohio and Mary went into Indiana where she may have died.

I do not have a list for the children's names, since it is was early for the census to list them. I was dealing with 1840 and earlier. I did find one other son when I saw a posting on genforum for someone looking for information the ancestry of a William Ware.  William had been born in 1818 in Ohio and died in 1899 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He had married  in 1839 in Fountain, Indiana. He had two children that he named Hannah and James. The family history stories were very similar, and we both think William is Mary's brother.

When I was on vacation, I did attempt to visit the graves of Lockard and Mary. I called ahead and the sexton found that there was no stone. Knowing how far I was coming from, Ca. to Iowa is a long drive he spent a whole morning hunting around in records for me but never found where they were in the cemetery. He could only find that they were there. He decided at some point a building may even have been built over them - by accident. I would love to find a family member that has a photo of the grave sites. Anyone that has an one, I would love it posted here.
