He was born in Roxton, Texas, on April 11, 1935, to Marvin Clarence and Francis Lucille Yates Horton Sr. He was a member of the Roxton United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He served in the United States Army and many years in the Texas National Guard. He was a long time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was retired from Campbell Soup in Paris.
He preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Moree Horton; and by both parents.
He is survived by one daughter; two grandchildren; one brother; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by five step-children; 12 step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and many friends
