G.P. "Bunky" Bodmer, 89 of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015.

Born Sunday, November 22, 1925 in Loudoun County, VA. He was a son of the late Thomas Edward Bodmer and the late Henrietta Moran Bodmer.

Bunky married the love of his life, JoAnne Bell, November 12, 1947.
Bunky served his country twice in the US Navy. Once during WWII as a gunners mate in the Pacific on a destroyer escort and recalled for a second tour during the Korean Conflict received a second honorable discharge in 1954.

Bunky enjoyed playing baseball in local Loudoun County leagues and later served as manager. He retired from the US Post Office in December of 1980 after 32 years of service. While employed he was a postal clerk and later the superintendent of mail at the Leesburg branch. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ashburn, VA and had a passion for gardening and traveling with his wife and friends.


Bunky leaves to cherish his memory his family including his wife of 67 years, Jo Anne Bell Bodmer of Leesburg, VA and sons, Gary L. Bodmer of Winchester, VA, and Samuel E. “Buzzy” Bodmer of Lebanon, VA and daughter, Linda Carol Bodmer Gore of Middleburg, VA. Bunky especially enjoyed the accomplishments his five grandchildren.

Graveside services will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216, or to a charity of the sender's choice.
