He was born in Alliance, Ohio on May 2, 1925, the son of Walter Sr. & Alma (Stanley) Morrison.
He married Eula Harper in Ohio on July 17, 1943. She predeceased him in 1997.
He then married Velva Cline in Gladwin County on June 16, 2001.
Wally, as he preferred to be called, was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country in World War II. He served aboard the ship "Bennion" for 5 years, and was awarded many champion ribbons for his part in several ship invasions.
He enjoyed traveling and had visited every state in the union and especially liked Hawaii and New Orleans. He was a carpenter for over 50 years and worked for Houserman Construction Company, retiring at the age of 62. He loved spending the holidays with his grandchildren and making chocolate fudge. He also enjoyed reading, Historical Books, fishing, hunting, music, woodworking and building things.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and was past Post Commander of V.F.W. Post #7303. He had lived in Gladwin County since the 1960's, previously residing in Hazel Park, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife: Velva Morrison of Beaverton; son in-law: Thomas Bongiovanni of Rochester Hills, MI; 3 grandchildren: Carrie (Steve) Mariuz of Holland, MI; Rachel (Scott) Hewins of Rochester Hills, MI; Christopher (Sarah) Bongiovanni of Troy, MI; great grandchildren: Tony & Sarah Mariuz; Emily & Nicholas Schaub; Sophia & Alexander Bongiovanni; Anthony, Vincent & Joseph Hewins; 1 brother: Charles (Sally) Morrison of Canton, Ohio; step-daughters: Judy Colbaugh of Florida & Linda Colbaugh of Indiana; along with many other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife: Eula Morrison; daughter: Harriette Bongiovanni; 2 brothers: Paul Morrison & Kenneth Morrison. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Harold Owens on Saturday, September 29, 2012, 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan.
