Chester Ford

Brown County native Chester V. Ford died Thursday, December 12, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of that community, he was 88.

Born May 23, 1914, Mr. Ford was the son of Charles and Cloe Allender Ford. Both preceded him in death.

He married Dorothy M. Bassett November 27, 1935. She died September 23, 1993.

Mr. Ford began working at Cosco in 1947 and retired from the maintenance department in 1977. He formerly attended a Pentecostal church in Columbus and New Life Community Church in Nashville.

Survivors include sons, Hugh Ford of Scipio and Harold Ford of Columbus; daughters, Wilma Jessie and Teressa Ford, both of Columbus; brothers, Carl Ford of Wyoming and Robert and Paul Ford, both of Florida; sisters, Rosemary Williams and Virginia Bailey, both of Columbus, and Betty Sears of Franklin; grandchildren, Rex and Rita Ford, Stephen and Timothy Jessie, Lea Spangler, Sandra Walker, Beth Pearson, Dalene Gulley, Dana Minick, Dena Johnson, Tina Barlow, Cindy England and June Ford; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Dale Ford; brothers, Richard, Wayne and Theodore Ford; sisters, Geneva Gayman, Irene Williams, Mable Davis and Charlene Harcourt; and a great-granddaughter.

The Reverend Rick Herman officiated a service Monday, December 16, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street. Burial was in Garland Brook Cemetery.

Chester V. Ford, 88, of Road 300S died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Ford began working at Cosco in 1947 and retired from the maintenance department in 1977. He formerly attended a Pentecostal church in Columbus and New Life Community Church in Nashville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Rick Herman officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
