Mary Louise Tynan, born November 13, 1930, passed into eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Walter Tynan II and Louise Feehan Tynan; brothers: Edward Walter Tynan III, Richard A. Tynan and nephew, Dennis Tynan.

Mary was born in San Antonio where she remained most of her life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where she served as President of the Shakespeare Club in 1947 and continued to maintain many special friendships from her class.

Mary attended the University of Texas at Austin and in 1951, was a debutant of the San Antonio German Club as well as a Duchess of the Order of the Alamo in 1952. She was also a member of the Junior League of San Antonio.

Mary was employed at Joske’s department store where she also modeled the latest fashions.

Later, she served as secretary/office manager for the Alamo Kiwanis Club for most of her career. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Mary Tynan, was easily captivated by her tender heart and fun loving spirit.

The true center of Mary’s life was her devotion to her faith. She was an active member of St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church and she found much joy in bringing Holy Communion to those who were homebound and continued until her health prevented her from doing so. She was an active lay associate of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Mary is survived by her sister, Ann Tynan Carpenter (Lon); sister-in-law, Judy Tynan and her adoring nephews and nieces: Tim Tynan (Annette), Patrick Tynan (Mary), Kathy Hairston (David), Tricia Legler (Jim), Molly Perry (Will), Christy Wells (Dave) and Sallie Ream (Brad).

The family would like to express our deep appreciation to Fr. Bill Collins for his spiritual ministry; Drs. Scott Horn, David Gordon, and Peter Hollimon, Christus Hospice and the many dedicated care givers.

A special thanks and gratitude to Emanuela Miclau of Legacy Care Home for the loving and tender care extended to Mary during her last days.
