Irene graduated from Bellingham H.S. in Jan. 1941. On June 26, 1941, Irene married Ray E. Sherwood of Burlington, WA. Their union was blessed with one daughter Marilyn, and 3 sons, Kenneth, William and James.
Surviving are her 4 children and spouses; Marilyn & Bob Webb, of Everett; Kenneth & Connie, of Snohomish, WA; Bill of Camano Island, WA; Jim & Pam, of Lake Stevens, WA; and sister Ethel Caron, of Bellingham, WA; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on November 17, 1981; and her parents, sisters, Connie and Faye; and brother, Bill.
Irene worked for J.C.Penney and Valu-Mart in Everett for 8 years, and was an assistant cook for the Everett School District. She loved writing short stories and took many classes through the Everett Senior Center. She also enjoyed wood carving, playing pinochle and cribbage. For many years she attended the Snohomish Free Methodist Church and enjoyed outings with the senior group. Irene resided at Comfort Care Adult Family Home in Silver Lake, WA; Her family would like to thank Jenie, a very special angel, who was always there for our mother. Jenie generously showered her not only with love but dignity and respect. Irene was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and Granny. She was a friend to everyone she met and will be missed very much.
