Nathaniel attended the Memphis Public Schools, after which he joined the United States Military where he became a great chef. While living in Memphis, he started his ministry at Apostolic Faith Temple where he served as a faithful and devoted member.
In 1973 he met and married his wife Shirley Jean Green and was devoted to her for 41 ½ yrs. In 1986, Nathaniel moved to Idabel, Oklahoma where he became a deacon at the Solid Rock Apostolic Church, under the leadership of Bishop William Cooper. He was employed at Tyson Foods in Broken Bow, Oklahoma as a diesel mechanic. Later, he worked for a number of years at a custodian for the Idabel Public School District. In 1996, Nathaniel was the co-owner of Yum Yum Restaurant, which was known as the “best bar-b-que” in town.” He has always been a family man, a hard worker, a craftsman of all trades, and a man of great faith.
Nathaniel is preceded in death by: his parents, Marion and Alcreasa Green; three sisters, Marian, Phyllis, and Mary Green. Nathaniel leaves to cherish is memory : his wife, Shirley of the home; four children, Tina Thompson and husband Mark, Glenndell Threatt and wife Serena, and Darwin Threatt and wife Kapri all of Idabel, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren three sisters, Willie Henry and husband Harold of Baltimore, Maryland, Patricia Lloyd and husband Joseph of Columbus, Mississippi, and Joyce Green of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Ralph Green and wife Barbara of Jackson, Mississippi; four sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws from the Harris family, daughter –Kristi Threatt and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; good friends, Bishop William Cooper, Pastor Greg Willie, and Henry “Mitch” Hawkins.
Funeral arrangements are set for 11 am Saturday March 28, 2015 at the Idabel Middle School with Bishop William Cooper officiating.
A Military Honors Ceremony and Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday March 27th from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
