Golf was a passion for both Lavera and Howard. They often traveled playing on many different courses. Her golfing talent aced three hole-in-ones, an accomplishment she humbly enjoyed. She enjoyed landscaping her planters as Howard kept the lawn pristine. As a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach, she cherished the time with her Sunday School class. Every Sunday, she enjoyed watching from the congregation as Howard was singing in the choir. She enjoyed having church family celebrations at her home in Shalimar, Florida. In the evenings, the squirrels and hummingbirds on her patio were always well fed. Her nurturing heart was balanced by her stubborn inclinations, her opinionated beliefs and her caring spirit.
Lavera was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, Howard and son, Calvin. She is survived by her sons, James Eugene Collins (Anne) and Ronald W. Collins (Wanda). She is also survived by grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, Michelle and Heather and their families including nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32547. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow immediately at Beal Memorial Cemetery. Friends are invited to an informal reception with the family to be held at First Baptist Church of Ft. Walton Beach Family Life Center Cafe immediately after the graveside ceremony.
