Franklin T. Brown, 71, of Lorain, died Saturday January 23, 2010 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a short illness.

He was born March 2, 1938 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Franklin worked as a self-employed truck driver before retiring. After his retirement, he worked fixing lawnmowers and tractors.

He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and had recently joined Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed participating in and watching stock car racing, cooking, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and activities.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Jacquelyn Brown (nee Matejcik), daughters MaryAnn Mudrak (Jeff) of Lorain, Kimberly Kroesen (Todd) of Amherst and Christine Brown of Amherst, dear friend whom he treated as a daughter Maria Ernandes of Amherst, grandchildren Jeffrey Mudrak, Jennifer Mudrak, Madison Kroesen, Mikayla Kroesen and Mason Kroesen and sisters Eleanor Benner, Esther Ford, Helen Wittreich (Mike) and Jane Ison (Len). He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Thelma Brown (nee Kane), brothers Charles, Raymond, Gerald and Ralph Brown and sister Bernice Todd.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
