Connie Dean Ludwig Houston passed away on March 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of Herbert and Joyce Ludwig, Connie was born August 17, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri. She was the oldest of seven sisters and one brother.

In a family with nine children, she learned to sew at a young age, making many of her own school clothes. This skill flourished into a passion for sewing and Connie became an accomplished seamstress.

Some of her greatest sewing achievements were creating wedding dresses for her daughter, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters.

She married her high school sweetheart, Robert L. Houston, on November 23, 1965. Their union was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 4, 1969. They had a happy marriage of nearly fifty years and were blessed with four sons and one daughter, who were the love of Connie's life.

After her children were raised, Connie attended and graduated from Salt Lake Community College with an Associate's degree in Business.

She enjoyed a successful career as a buyer, working for KWM Electronics, Precision Assembly, Making Memories, and Walker Components.

Faithful is an accurate description of Connie. Her service to others is evidence of her love of the Lord. She devotedly served in the LDS Church in many callings, including stake and ward Primary President, stake and ward Relief Society President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and many more.

Connie extended love and friendship to everyone she met and took advantage of every opportunity to serve.

She is preceded in death by her father, Herbert R. Ludwig; grandson, Pete Jr. Houston; and great-grandson, Otto Lewis. She is survived by her husband, Bob; mother, Joyce Ludwig; son, Jeff (Lani); daughter, Tami (Larry) Phelps; son, Neil (Khris); son, Sam (Bonnie); son, Peter (Melissa); twenty grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Jordan Eleventh Ward Chapel, 7255 South 2200 West, West Jordan. Viewings will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary - Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, and prior to the services at the church on Monday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
