Ronnie R. Hess, age 85 of Redgranite, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2015 at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. Ronnie was born in Lohrville January 1, 1930, a son of Florian and Dorothy (Wilcox) Hess. He married Helen Mary Heaney January 5, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poy Sippi. Helen, his wife of 63 years survives. Ronnie was raised in Lohrville, and was a 1947 Graduate of the former Redgranite High School. He served his country during the "Cold War" from June 26, 1947 until April 6, 1953 with the 352nd. Bomb Squadron, 301st. Bomb Wing as a Tail Gunner in B-29's. He attained the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was Honorably Discharged April 6, 1953. When Ronnie came home from the Service, he was employed at the former Wisconsin Power & Light Co. in Berlin from February of 1954 until his retirement in July of 1989. Ronnie was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite, Am-Vets Post #13, and American Legion Post #31. He was formerly a member of the Poy Sippi Fire Department, and later the Redgranite Fire Department. He was an avid bowler, and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and their dogs. Ronnie and Helen enjoyed taking car rides together. Ronnie loved his family very much. Survivors include his wife, Helen; 3 sons; 3 daughters. Ronnie is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-granddaughters. Ronnie is also survived by other relatives, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Russell, who died in infancy, and a grandson, Stephen. Ronnie will be laid to rest with full Military Honors in St. Mark's Parish Cemetery, Redgranite.
