AMELIA ORTIZ, age 84 of Iowa Colony, Texas passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her residence. Amelia was born on February 15, 1931 in Goliad, Texas and was a resident of Iowa Colony for over 60 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Amelia was a devoted Catholic and her spiritual holiness and church involvement was an inspiration to everyone around her. She loved spending time with her family and friends, sewing, gardening and dancing. Amelia especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Ortiz, Sr.

Amelia is survived by her daughters, Lupe Rivera and husband, Basil, Jane Cantu and husband, John, Roselinda Cantu and husband, Manuel Jr., Christina Ortiz-Grounds and husband, Steve, sons, Alfred Ortiz, Jr. and wife, Mary Frances, David Ortiz and wife, Evelia, Christopher Ortiz and wife, Teresa, Steven Ortiz and wife, Debra Ann, Arthur Ortiz, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Scott Funeral Home with the Rosary service beginning at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 6502 Cr 48, Manvel, Texas. Interment will follow at Manvel Cemetery, Manvel, Texas.
