Leslie Stuart Bailey, age 80 of Quitman, Arkansas, left this earth Monday, March 23, 2015 in Bowman Hospice Homecare, Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born the son of Claude Calvin and Ollie Jane (Clark) Bailey on April 25, 1934, in Avery, Texas.

After graduating from high school, Leslie enlisted and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and spent twenty years as a military policeman. He spent time in Alaska, the Philippines, Viet Nam and Texas before finally settling in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1967.

He met his first wife, Esther, and together they raised their three children. After retiring from the Air Force, Leslie spent 19 years as an employee of the VA police force and later moved to Quitman, Arkansas, where he settled for retirement.

Leslie enjoyed wood working, playing new instruments, feeding birds, caring for his yard, loving his dogs, cat and fishing. He also played in a weekend band and loved the steel guitar. He never read music but his talent allowed him to play by hearing the notes.

Leslie is survived by his son Kenneth Bailey and wife Karen, son Bryan Bailey and wife Sharon; daughter Karen Nichols and husband Doug; grandchildren Michael Wayne Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Matthew Nichols and wife Sarah, Brandi Markum, Cory Markum, and Jennifer Markum; one great-granddaughter Allison Nichols and other caring relatives.

Graveside services with full military honors and burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 27, 2015 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
