Mr. Billy Oliver
September 13, 1934 - March 21, 2015

Bill Oliver was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August,2014. He had surgery, chemo and radiation but the tumor proved to be too much and on Saturday, March 21, with his wife, daughters and granddaughters holding his hands and singing to him, he left us.

Bill grew up in a large, loving family in Northeast Arkansas that included 5 brothers, 5 sisters and his parents, Arthur and Noma Oliver. He graduated from Lynn High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball.

Gospel music was a big part of his life. He and his brothers sang all over the area, and were known as The Oliver Brothers Quartet.

He and his wife, Nita, moved to Hot Springs with daughters Tammy and Lisa in 1963 where he managed retail stores, Sterling, Magic Mart and Alco for over 30 years. After working indoors for so many years, he fell in love with the joy of working outside and mowing grass. He didn't do flower beds!

The Arkansas Razorbacks and many other basketball and football teams filled his life with many hours of enjoyment. Add his “man cave” and the Lazy Boy recliner and you know he was a simple, loving Papa, just hanging at home with family.

His daughter Tammy is married to Jim Thomas and they have three children, Mathew & wife Martha, Daniel, and Elizabeth & husband Hampton Honeycutt. Lisa is married to Scott McFee and their two daughters have added five great grandchildren to the family. Kirbi is married to Kalim Holoch and they are parents to Gavin and Vivian. Kori is married to Josh Wheatley and are parents to Sydney, Luke and Laylee.

Funeral services for Bill will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Oaklawn Baptist Church with visitation to follow. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 12 noon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lynn, Arkansas. He will be buried by his mom and dad.

Bill loved and supported his church, Oaklawn Baptist, for over 50 years. Memorials to the Christian Life Center would honor him.
