Frances May Barrick of Athens, GA 78, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015 after a courageous battle with various illnesses in recent years. The daughter of the late Paul and Mary Shine, she was born in Uniontown, PA & grew up in Morgantown, WV. She spent the last 53 years in the Five Points area of Athens where she raised her five sons & one daughter. Frances was the first female Advanced Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Georgia. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after thirty years of service. Frances was known for her sweet spirit who always saw the best in others. Her friendly smile, and pretty & sparkling blue eyes will be missed by those who knew her. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the University Catholic Center. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Survivors include six children: Paul (Tina) Barrick, Josef (Silvia) Barrick, David (Deanna) Barrick, Matthew Barrick, Daniel (Araceli) Barrick, & Raechel (Steve) Crumley; three sisters: Paulette Shine, Mary Ann Airsman, & Delores “Cookie” Wilson; eight grandchildren: Paul, Joey, Dustin, Elizabeth “Liza”, Elizabeth “Lily”, Connor, Lauren, & Riley. Pallbearers will be sons: Josef Barrick, David Barrick, Matthew Barrick, Daniel Barrick; grandsons: Paul Barrick and Joey Barrick. Honorary pallbearer will be her son, Paul Barrick. Lord & Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
