JAMES RUSSELL LORD was born in East Windsor, Connecticut on March 10, 1844. He married (1) Alice Cockshot on May 5, 1866. James and Alice had seven children, and lost three of them in childbirth. Alice died June 26, 1882 at Warehouse Point, Connecticut.

James Russell married (2) Hattie Charlott Duke on June 4, 1884. James and Hattie had one son, Harold, born January 15, 1899, in Warehouse Point. Harold died in an auto accident in Los Angeles,California on October 10, 1930. Hattie died October 19, 1923 in Los Angeles.

James Russell and Alice had the following children:

Orrin William Born February 24, 1867. Married Emma Viola Rynerson.

James Russell Jr. Born March 5, 1869.
Was murdered at Randsburg, Calif., unmarried.

James Russell was a farmer, raising tobacco as a main crop. He worked his crops, and worked
with his neighbors to harvest theirs. His sons helped him with his crops. Later in life he worked on the locks on the Connecticut River at Windsor Locks. At his death his occupation was listed as Stationary Engineer. This would have been his occupation at Windsor Locks, as he was retired when he moved to Los Angeles.
