Clara was born one of four daughters to Marsh and Mary Ellen (Buchanan) Wood on Sunday, February 22, 1925 in Friendsville, IL. Clara married Manvil Doyl Hockgeiger on Monday, February 7, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN and he preceded her in death on Monday, April 01, 1991.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. Clara worked for twenty years at the Wabash County Senior Citizens as their receptionist. She loved spending time quilting. Other past time hobbies of her was word puzzles and fishing. Clara was a wonderful, Mother, Grandma, and Great Grandma.
Surviving are her children, one son, John Michael and wife Mary Rae Hockgeiger of Albion, IL; one daughter, Marcia Kay and husband Rex Holland of Albion, IL.; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Manvil; parents, Marsh and Mary Ellen; one son, Dale Wayne Hockgeiger, four brothers, France, Ray, Cecil, and Kyle Wood; three sisters, Nola Mae Burton, Martha Goodson and Fern Carter.
Funeral services in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial following in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
