Janice Louise Curtis, 59, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Feb. 26 at Ravenwood Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center of cancer.
She was born Feb. 13, 1956 at Allen Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Jean Rosenow and Neil Harris. She married Calvin nelson of Beatrice, Neb., and they later divorced. She then married Larry Curtis of Waterloo, and they later divorced.
Jan graduated in 1975 from East High School Special Education Department. She worked several years at a laundry service in downtown Waterloo, helped attend and manage a gas station in Illinois, and provided chidcare for several people throughout the years.
Jan was a volunteer at Harvest Vineyard Church and helped during lunchtime hours at the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her mother, Jean 'Dolly' Makowsky; one son, Josh Curtis of Waterloo; and one grandson, Shane King of Evansdale.
She was preceded in death by her father; one infant son, Duane Nelson; maternal grandparents, Herman and Helen Rosenow; one aunt, Mary E. Beck; and one uncle, James Rosenow.
Memorial services took place March 10 at Harvest Vinyard Church.
