Claude Edwin Evans, 73, of Galax, Va., passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born March 6, 1942 in Whitehead, Alleghany County, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Buren Dewitt Evans. Mr. Evans proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Petty Evans; former wife and friend, Shirley Testerman Evans; mother, Grace Eva Evans; three children, Teresa Edwina Evans Thomas of Greenville, SC., Terry Edwin Evans and wife, Janet of Lugoff, SC., Michelle Angelina Evans Hill and husband, John of Elgin, NC; two sisters, Jean Evelyn Wilson and husband, Franklin and Ola Gaye Evon Dillon and husband, Robert Lee Dillon, Sr.; one brother, James Earl Evans and wife, Sue; seven grandchildren, Allen Michael, Megan, Heather, Taylor, Troy, Blaize, and Mary Grace; two great grandchildren, Noah and Madison. A Graveside Service was held at Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Alleghany County, Sparta, NC., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10 am. Pastor Claude Holderfield officiated. Military rites were be conducted by Grayson VFW Post #7726 and the U.S. Marine Corp out of Greensboro, NC.
