BRIGHAM CITY - Alice Melettie Tingey Troxell, 95, died August 6, 1998, in Brigham City. She was born in Brigham City July 19, 1903, to John Ephriam and Alice Johanna Poulsen Tingey. She was the oldest
of twelve children. She married Ferdinand Troxell on April 12, 1922, in Ogden, Utah.
The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS
Temple. He died on May 12, 1964.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for Van Englands in Brigham City and as a clerk for the Box Elder County tax office.
She was a member of the LDS Church and loved the gospel. She taught Sunday School for 62 years to the 7 and 9 year olds. She also loved to do temple work.
She was County Captain of the DUP in Box Elder County.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, crocheting, quilting and doing yard work. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Troxell (Edell) Butterfield, of Leeds, Utah; one daughter-in-law, Beryl John Troxell of Brigham City; one brother, Wynn (Barbara) Tingey, Paul, Idaho; three sisters: Virginia (Bill) Thompson, Ogden; Mrytle (Grant) Johnson, Ogden and Lila Ralphs, Perry,–Utah; seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Frank Earl Troxell; one grandson; her parents; four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were Monday, August 10, at Myers Mortuary, Brigham City.
Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
