Chatham IL- Stephen D. Belcher, 68, of Chatham, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 700 Spruce St., Chatham, IL.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.

Stephen was born in Sherman, Tx on September 26, 1946 to David and Dixie Belcher. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. Stephen married Donna Austiff of Chapin, IL in 1967 and she survives. He is also survived by his five children: Robert (Annette) Belcher of Newberry, S.C., Michael (Debbie) Belcher of Schaumburg, IL, Angela Trueblood of Sherman, IL, Kara (Chris) Rapacz and Nathan (Kristina) Belcher of Springfield, IL., his thirteen grandchildren including Rebecca Belcher, Morgan and Carson Belcher, Courtney Trueblood, Andrew Elder, Joseph, Emily and Wyatt Rapacz, Cole and Cade Belcher, and Issac, Elijah and Emma Turner, his brother David Wayne (Kathy) Belcher of Springfield, IL, a sister, Ronda Busta of Waxahachie, TX, two nieces, one nephew and several cousins. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Garry Busta.

Stephen was a decorated United States Marine and a Vietnam War veteran. Following his military service, Stephen graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and worked many years as a kitchen and bath designer in Springfield and Champaign.

Stephen was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham. Above all things he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
