He was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edmund and Martha Sanders.
Lee is a decorated World War II Veteran, a Navy Corpsman (Pharmacist’s Mate) with the 5th Marine Division, spending, among other assignments, nine months in Japan as part of the occupation troops following the Japanese surrender, and later would be commissioned an Ensign in the Navy Reserve Officer Corps, eventually reaching his highest rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, from which he was Honorably Discharged.
Lee is survived by his only child, his son, John E. (Evelyn) Sanders of Port Charlotte; only sibling, sister, Marlene Sanders (Jim) Heinlein of Niles, Ill.; and numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Clare M. Sanders, on Sept. 8, 2009, whom he married Oct. 22, 1949, and Louise Heiser Gover Sanders, on Feb. 11, 2015, whom he married June 23, 2012.
