Cecil Ray Richards, Sr., 86, of New London, went home to be with the lord March 21, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his entire family.
Cecil was born August 27, 1928 in Eva, West Virginia to Walter and Ada {Tingler} Richards.
Cecil was a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Donna Jean Parks on August 20, 1955.
Cecil retired from the Elyria Foundry in Elyria OH where he worked for over 30 years. He attended Bethel Baptist Church. Cecil enjoyed growing fresh vegetables in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.
Cecil will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna; children Cecil Richards Jr. and Teresa (Eddie) Campbell; grandchildren Erica (Mike) Cooke, Elizabeth (Ryan) Gilman, Emerald (Chris) Stackhouse, Terri Mae (Mike) Patterson and Nicole Richards; great-grandchildren Camryn, Chloe', Eleanor, Alayna, Clark and Ian.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his Step-mother Edna Pearl and 13 siblings.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 575 U.S. 250 N. Savannah, OH 44874.
