Joel was born in Fairfield, Iowa on January 8, 1929. He died on Friday, August 12, 2011, due to heart problems. Joel died peacefully at his Fresno home with his wife by his side. Joel is survived by Dana, his wife of 56 years; his two daughters and their husbands, Susanne and Charles Taylor, Stephanie and Perry Rath; his four grandchildren, Max and Mel Taylor and Leah and Alex Rath; his sister, Jean Means; and a wonderful network of family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at St. James Anglican Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. James Anglican Cathedral; The Fresno Philharmonic or St. Agnes Hospice.
