94, born April 29, 1920, passed peacefully away on March 14, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona. Del, a native Arizonan, was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert L. Stapley and Nina Johnston as well as his younger siblings, Eileen Lobsinger, Marjorie Allen, Dwight Stapley, Luella Stoffel and Grant Stapley and his oldest children, Linda Stapley and Kenneth Stapley (Charlene). He is survived by his Eternal companion of 68 years, Gene Holdeman, and his children, Michael Stapley (Jewell) of Glendale, AZ, Larry Stapley (Reecia) of Owasso, OK, and Karen Hrebicek Eisenbart (Stephen Hrebicek, deceased, and James) of Peoria, AZ. His influence will also be remembered by his 21 grandchildren, 28 1/2 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and all who were blessed to spend time in their home. Del was a World War II veteran who also served many years in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. After graduating from Arizona State Teachers College in 1946, he taught high school math and science for over 30 years at Safford and Glendale High Schools. He was always strict with his students because he wanted so much for them to be successful and saw their potential.

Del also served several missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including a teaching mission with the Native Americans, a Stake mission, the LDS Employment Office, and in the Stake Family History Center. Special thanks to Home Sweet Home, Emil and Larissa Mercea, their family and staff for their loving care of Del. A viewing will be held at the Orangewood Building on Friday, March 20th, from 6:00-8:00 pm and prior to the funeral at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 21st. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am at the Orangewood Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 4748 W Orangewood Avenue in Glendale, Arizona. Interment will be at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Greer Wilson Chapel.
