Carson Swicegood, 89, of S. NC Highway, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where he has been a member for 67 years, with the Revs. Glenn Sanford and Jeffery Hoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mr. Swicegood was born May 26, 1925, in Davidson County, to Walter Wade Swicegood and Letha Lanning Swicegood. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired manager of Davidson Plumbing where he was employed for 29 years. At his church he was a member of the church council; a Sunday school teacher and leader of the youth. He also served as Sunday school superintendent. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Koontz Swicegood who died March 17, 2009.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Swicegood of Lexington and David Swicegood of Galax,Va.; daughter-in-law, Leigh Swicegood; and his granddaughter, who was the light of his life, Hannah Leann Swicegood.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Youth, 4299 S. NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
