Harry J. Freeman, retired MSGT USAF, passed away in Castroville on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Harry was born in Los Angeles, California on May 1, 1941. He was a 1957 graduate of Huntington Park High School. He served 20 years in the USAF, retiring as a MSGT. Harry was a Vietnam Veteran. While he was in the Air Force he was a Police Officer and also trained military dogs to perform various duties needed for military security purposes. Harry was a lead singer in the Pickin’ an’ a Grin’n country music band. On June 15, 1963 he married Sydney Lewie in Braintree, Essex, England. Harry leaves behind his loving wife, “Syd” of La Coste; sons Billy (Rhonda) Freeman of La Coste and Bryan (Kathy) Freeman of Spring Branch; 22 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; siblings, Virginia Sears of Washington, Paul (Betty) Freeman of California, and David (Shelly) Freeman of Oregon; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dillard “Dick” Freeman and Rubye Freeman; daughter and son-in-law, Barbra and George Nentwich and son, Brad Freeman; brothers-in-law, Gene Sears and Joe Young; great granddaughter, Jenny Jennings; sister, Dorothy Young. A Celebration of his Life service will be held on Friday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Medina Valley VFW Post #8134 in La Coste. A graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors on Wednesday, Apr. 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
