Kenneth Everett Quimby Sr, 75, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, April 5, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, William E. and Margaret E. (Tuttle) Quimby. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and Haverhill Trade School. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he proudly served from January 1955 until his honorable discharge in December 1958.
Mr. Quimby was employed in manufacturing at the former Western Electric for ten years before becoming a firefighter in the Haverhill Fire Department. He served the City of Haverhill for twenty-eight years, retiring in 2000.
He leaves his two sons, former Haverhill City Councilor, Kenneth E. Quimby Jr, and Gary W. Quimby, both of Haverhill, a daughter and son in law, Patricia A. and Jerry Baldwin, of Austin, TX, former wife, Alice E. (Darmody) Iannalfo, of Haverhill, a granddaughter, Elizabeth H. Baldwin, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Priscilla Barton and Norma Noyes.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday, from 4 until 8 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 10 AM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Cemetery, Kenoza St. Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St. Lawrence, MA 01843.
