Emily Douglass Ellis was a daughter of James Douglass and Sally Evans, of Westmoreland County, VA. She married Richard Shelton Ellis on Dec. 3, 1818 and had issue;
James Douglass, died in infancy, Richard Shelton, Emily Douglass, married David H. Tapscott, John Thomas, killed at Gettysburg, Charles William, died in infancy, and Sally Jane Ellis, who married William B. Davis of Bedford Co, VA.
Note: The original grave of this Ellis family member was located in the Ellis Family Cemetery at Red Hill Plantation in Western Amherst County. In the 1930's, a relative had all of the remains of the family members removed and re-interred at Amherst Cemetery. The grave is unmarked.
