LOMBARD, CHARLENE D. (MERTZ); passed away in Grosse Pointe Woods MI on May 21, 2014. She was born in New Baltimore, MI to the late Wesley and Elna Mertz. A graduate of New Baltimore Hathaway school. She went on to obtain a teaching degree from Eastern and Central Michigan University. She taught in Birmingham and Warren Michigan, finally retiring with over 40 years of public school service in 2007. Charlene was an avid reader, accomplished knitter and seamstress who produced flawless work. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra; son, Steven; sister, Karen Broughton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Celebration of her Life is pending. per The VOICE newspaper
