MATTOON- Jesse William "Jake" Sparks , 91, of Mattoon, formerly of Toledo, died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 25, 2004) at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Toledo Christian Church. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Barkey Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 23, 1913, in Toledo, son of Charles and Bertha Gentry Sparks . He married Anna Mae Orand on 1946; she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara Wisner of Mattoon; a brother, Fred Sparks of Crystal River, Fla.; two sisters, Rachel Decker and Viola Russell, both of Toledo; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Mr. Sparks had retired from Fedders Corporation in Effingham. He was a member of the Toledo Christian Church and the Fox Hunters Association.
