Film and Stage Director; TV-producer, Radio figure. Began his career as a local reporter and showed a unique all-round talent for radio and TV, film and theatre. He commenced his more official career at the Swedish Radio in 1946, but took interest in the new media - television. He was one of the first radio figures in Sweden devoting for TV, and went to BBC in London to learn more. During the 1950s he was tied to Stadsteatern (The City Theatre) in Gothenburg and directed several noted productions, among them Tennessee Williams´ "Katt på hett plåttak" (1955), "Anne Franks dagbok" (1956), "Klaga månde Elektra" (1956), "Två åsnor" (1958) and "Änkeman Jarl" (1960). In Stockholm he followed up his successful directing career with such plays as "Kvartetten som sprängdes" (1960) and "Den tappre soldaten Svejk" (1962). During that same period he was pioneering TV-entertainment with "Lusthuset" (1958) and an outdoor show from downtown Gothenburg. In 1962 he received the award The Golden Rose in Montreux for "Kaskad", and in 1969 his TV-version of "Holländaren" was awarded. At this time he had reached a position as one of the most celebrated TV-producers ever, and his ideas was often ahead of its time. His TV-magazine show "Halv Sju" (1971) was concidered a role model for the genre. His debute as a film director was in 1963 with "Adam och Eva" and during the 1960s he made success with films like "Bröllopsbesvär" (1964) and "Vindingevals" (1968). Apart from this, he was acting as well, and his most noted role was in "Tärningen är kastad" (1960). In 1972 he recieved "Stora Journalistpriset" (the foremost Swedish journalist award). He lived an hectic life with several projects going on at the same time. At the time of his death he was hosting the TV-show "Sommarkväll" and directing the musical "Annie get your gun" in Gothenburg. But he collapsed and was struck by a fatal heart attack.
