DECATUR -- Leroy Lamb Jr., affectionately known as "Chops" and "€œPaPa Chops" departed from this earth on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital at the early hour of 12:46 a.m.

Leroy was born on March 21, 1939 in Brownsville, TN the son of Leroy Lamb Sr. and Alma (Shipp) Lamb. He was a veteran of the United States Army and service from 1962-1968. He retired from Caterpillar after many years as a hard and dedicated worker. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Leroy started a radio station which led to a dance show for local teens to dance and enjoy themselves on a locally syndicated television station. Leroy was an avid golfer and traveled many states with his golf buddies, dear friends and wife sometime family in search of great golf courses. He encountered many friends throughout life golfing. He also was a well known D.J.

Anyone who was familiar with "€œChops"€ knew his love for his wife Vera (Softley) Lamb, his music, golfing, grandchildren, family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughter, Carla Jordan; stepchildren, Kia, Santez (Donica) and Edward Softley; Kim, Patricia and Greg Dennis; sister, Barbara Lamb; grandchildren: Steven, Shiekira, Velar, Ricky Smith, Pendleton Dickerson III, Devin, Jordan, Jarrid, Jaya, Lauren, Shae, Peyton Vera Softley; great grandson, Jayshaun Tayor and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife, Vera Softley-Lamb, brother, Marlin Lamb.

"Chops"€ will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, sister, family members and friends.

The family would like to give thanks to Heartland Nursing Home, DMH Staff, Dr. Patel, Health at Home, Jan and Bill and Ernie Dawson.

Services celebrating his life will be held: 12:00 Noon Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour before service. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites.
