FLORENCE -- Helen Coon Cook, age 95, died on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in the McLeod Hospice House.

She was born on November 12, 1919 in Gastonia, NC to Lester and Minnie Lee Coon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings Regina Moore, Lucile Abernethy, Catherine Cline, and Charles Coon.

She graduated from the public schools in Gastonia, NC and attended UNC-G and a business college to study secretarial science. After working as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Florence, she retired from Altman Tractor Company.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie C. Gregg (Jimmy, deceased) of Florence, William A. Cook of Norman, OK (Geri Rowden), Lucille C. Roth of Knightdale, NC, and J. Caldwell Cook (Robyn) of Florence; eight grandchildren, Carl Gregg, Cameron Cook, Phillip Cook, Ginger Roth, Jamie Conner, Allison Renirie, Brandi Cook and Bryan Cook; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Inabinet of First Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be an hour before the service. A private interment will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church TV Ministry, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29501; or to McLeod Hospice House, c/o McLeod Foundation, P. O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502
