Mrs. William H. Norbury died Saturday morning at 1:30 a.m., Nov. 18, 1916, aged 37 years, 2 months and 25 days. The immediate cause of her death was Plessenta Preiva Centralatis. She was taken ill Monday and it was feared from the first that her sickness was serious. She gave birth to a stillborn babe at 9 o'clock Saturday evening and passed away at the hour above stated.

Edith Thomas was born at Rippey, Green County, Iowa, Sept. 23, 1879. She moved to Kansas with her parents in 1883, coming to Hartford in 1892, where she has since, until her death, made her home. She married William Norbury Sept.14, 1898. To this union were born six children, three sons and three daughters, Lloyd, June, Helen, Glen, Alice and George.

The husband and five of the children, besides a mother, father and one sister, Mrs. Roy VanGundy, of Neosho Rapids remain with us in the valley of weeping. George William, the sixth child, closed his eyes in death e'er scarcely, if at all, his day begun and his tiny body lies close beside his mother's heart in the little house of the dead.

Mrs. Norbury united with the Christian Church and was baptized by E.N. Phillips, her pastor, Sept. 10, 1897. Her love of the church and her interest in its progress was manifested by the fact that for the past six years she was president of the Ladies Aid society.

Mrs. Norbury was one of Hartford's most active women and her presence and help will be sorely missed. Her interest and enthusiasm for her church might well be emulated; her place as teacher in Sunday School, in the church and Aid society will be hard to fill. She was a member of the Civic Improvement club and all questions and work for the betterment of our town received her hearty co-operation.

The services were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon, conducted by her former pastor, Rev. O.E. Palmer, of Garden City, Kans., assisted by Rev. G. Jay Rhodes, of the M.E. church, this place. Interment was made in the Hartford cemetery. The pallbearers were Mesdames J.W. Stratton, F.H.Myers, F.H. Hovious, Wm. O'Neal, Elza Rogers and Angie Musch. A quartet composed of Mesdames Chas. E. Cole and Chas. Shull and Messrs Frank Fullen and Chas. Shull sang most touchingly the favorite songs of the deceased. The flowers were many and beautiful, but not more beautiful than the faces of mother and son resting so peacefully among them. The business houses were all closed and the High School was dismissed for the funeral.

The out-of-town people who attended the funeral were Ralph Collins and Mrs. Louis Herring, of Topeka; J.T. Norbury, of St. Joe, Mo.; Mrs. Hazel Walsh, of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Leggett, of Lawton, Okla.; Ray Crawford, of Reading, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Van Gundy and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Campbell, of Neosho Rapids;
E.B. Cooper, of Emporia; Mrs. W.H. Nation, of Burlington, and Mrs. Lucy Pennybaker, of Strawn.
