.Rachel V. Simmons, 99, passed away on Thursday, September 07, 2017, at Beacon Place, eleven days shy of her 100th birthday. She was born on September 18, 1917 in Stokes County, NC. She was better known as Granny and loved growing a two acre vegetable and flower garden. All tried, but could never make sweet potato and chocolate coconut pies like Granny. She retired from J.P. Stevens Corp. She will be deeply missed by all.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Simmons, daughter, Katherine Steed; grandson, Kenneth Steed; great grandsons, Joe Pennington and Jason Lowe. She is survived by her daughter, Treva Lowe; granddaughters, Sandra Willis (Mike), Charlotte West (Kerry), Susan Pennington, Sharon Griscom (Robert); grandson, Rodney Lowe (Denise); 11 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, 11:30 am at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
