Wife of Thomas W Staley. Died one year after her husband, leaving behind 5 children.

Nancy Clark and Thomas Staley's children were:
1) Alice Staley b. 1856
2) George Staley b. 1858
3) Lewis Wallis Staley b. 1862
4) Charles Ross Staley b. 1860 d. 1930
5) Ulysses Grant Staley b. 1866 d. 1957

It is suspected that this Nancy Clark was the daughter of Caleb Clark and Elizabeth Griffith who appear in the 1850 Warren Twp, Marion Co, Indiana census. Caleb and Elizabeth, and most of their family moved to Vermillion County Illinois by 1860. Of the 5 Staley children, at least 3 ended up in Vermillion County, Illinois in the same townships that the Caleb Clark family lived.

Her 5 children appear in the 1870 Rush County Indiana census in the Soliders and Sailors Orphans Home. Also there in 1870 is Charles Clark, who is suspected to be the son of Nancy's brother James. Both Albert and Charles Clark appear in the photo of the first ten children admitted to the orphanage. So it is possible that the Staley children had a first cousin in the orphanage with them in 1870.
